ELENA MAZZI | Under Water

29.06.19 > 29.09.19 | Filatoio Rosso di Caraglio (CN)
A journey on the theme of water, articulated through video, photography, painting, drawing, sculpture and installation.
The project includes the works of about twenty international artists, together with an important nucleus of photographs and historical documents belonging to the Documentation Area of the Museomontagna of Turin

The exhibition is part of a global debate that sees the most essential natural element as the protagonist
that generates and guarantees the maintenance of life, the water. Taking inspiration from the words of Amitav Ghosh, who has defined as the one in which we live as the “Era of the Great Blindness”, the narration starts from a reference to the myth of Narcissus.
Never before has the reference to this mythological figure been so adequate to describe the attitude
pathologically self-flattering and the constant danger of de-realization of contemporary man.

The aim of the exhibition is the reflection underway within this territory on the subject of climate change, but also testifies to the need to identify new water collection, storage and management systems in mountain areas that are able to respond to the water needs of the next future.

On display works by: Invernomuto, William Henry Jackson, Adam Jeppesen, Peter Matthews, Elena Mazzi, Arno Rafael Minkkinen, Ryts Monet, Silver Pennacchio, Laura Pugno, Ernesto Samaritans, Studio Negri, Silvano Tessarollo, Helen Mayer Harrison & Newton Harrison, Gaston Tissandier, Julius von Bismarck, Thomas Wrede.
