TUTTACITTA’

12–14 May 2023, Rome

Tuttacittà is a collaborative project involving 32 contemporary and modern art galleries in Rome. The inaugural edition, which will take place from May 12-14, 2023, aims to map out the city’s art geography, with the goal of fostering debate and exchange. Participating galleries will open their doors to the public, offering exhibitions and cultural events and encouraging visitors to explore other cultural institutions, such as academies, foundations, museums, and project spaces, which are all integral components of an expanding and dynamic community.

Rome has a rich and significant history of art galleries that, since the 1950s, have hosted movements like Arte Povera and Transavanguardia, as well as exhibitions by artists who are fundamental to the international art scene. The city has always been a center dedicated to study, experimentation, and cultural exchange, thanks in part to the presence of foreign academies and cultural institutes.

Today, the commitment of galleries, institutions, and numerous project spaces has allowed the city’s cultural landscape to expand, encompassing areas beyond the historic center. Tuttacittà’s mapping will take visitors on a journey of discovery, showcasing a city that offers a vibrant and ever-evolving cultural scene.

The 32 galleries participating in Tuttacittà will have extended hours, opening their doors on Sunday as well. MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma will also participate in the gallery weekend, not only with its exhibitions but also as a place of exchange. On Saturday, May 13, from 12 to 2:30 p.m., MACRO will host a series of talks in which artists, gallery owners of different generations, critics, and curators will engage in dialogue. The American Academy in Rome will also be involved in the event.
