Julie Polidoro is a Franco-Italian artist who lives and works between Rome and Paris. Her works have been exhibited in numerous private and public institutions across Europe, the United States, South America and Asia.

Julie Polidoro’s primary artistic exploration centres on the question of cartographic space in the representation of the world. Her approach aims to offer a new perspective on what is usually right before our eyes, particularly the political map of the world. She focuses on the position of each individual in relation to others, exploring the boundaries between the visible and the imaginary, whether through cartography, a landscape or a fridge. The aim is to create new associations, multiply perspectives and shift each person’s perception.

Julie Polidoro uses powdered pigments, developing a chromatic language that is uniquely her own and which comes to life through the slowness of her brushstrokes. From the very beginning, empty space—devoid of visual information—has been an essential element of her artistic practice. She chooses to leave part of the support free of paint, or sometimes refrains from any intervention at all, leaving the support untouched. This creates a dialogue with absence. Absence, the void, can also be generated by cutting out or folding the paper, linen canvas, felt, jute canvas or metal foil.
