On Friday 16 October 2026, from 6.00 PM to 9.00 PM, Ex Elettrofonica will host the opening of CASOTTO, a group exhibition bringing together the artists Stanislao Di Giugno, Stefania Galegati, Monica Lundy, Alessandro Piangiamore, Federico Pietrella, Giuseppe Pietroniro, Daniele Puppi, Marco Raparelli and Andrea Salvino, curated by Marco Raparelli.
A gallery like a CASOTTO: a temporary, collective space where nine artists come together to create a snapshot of a community that has shared a common path for over twenty years. The title refers to Sergio Citti’s 1977 film Casotto: a temporary, popular setting traversed by a multitude of stories, encounters and situations. In the exhibition, the gallery takes on the same function as a device: a place that does not impose a single narrative, but rather brings different individuals and artistic practices into relation with one another.
CASOTTO does not seek to reconstruct a scene, nor to offer a historical reading of contemporary Italian art. Rather, it is a collective portrait, a group photograph in which different experiences and languages coexist in the same space and at the same time. Drawing, painting, photography, video, installation and other forms of artistic research thus enter into dialogue without the need to be reduced to a common denominator. It is precisely in the distance between these different practices that a shared history emerges: that of artists who have often independently created their own spaces for dialogue, generating opportunities for encounters, collaboration and creative projects outside established institutional circuits.
As curator Marco Raparelli states: “When the opportunity arose to curate an exhibition at Ex Elettrofonica, I had no hesitation in inviting these artists, whom I believe deserve attention and recognition.
Casotto does not claim to offer an exhaustive survey of Italian art from the early 2000s to the present day, as too many key figures would inevitably be left out. Rather, it aims to capture the self-portrait, fixed in time, of a community of artists who, while developing profoundly different practices and artistic languages, have shared experiences in the field, independent projects and moments of dialogue.
It is the portrait of a generation that has often created its own opportunities for meeting and working outside established structures, making collaboration and friendship a practice capable of producing culture.”
The project does not end within the gallery walls. From 10.30 PM, CASOTTO continues through music and conviviality with a party at Alcazar in Rome, in the Trastevere neighbourhood, at 14 Via Cardinale Merry del Val.
The evening is curated by WeLoveRadio and will feature DJ Baro and Marco Raparelli (Cot Rock) on the decks.
From the exhibition to the dance floor, CASOTTO changes form and language, transforming into another opportunity for encounter. Music thus becomes an integral part of the project and extends its spirit: an open, shared space where relationships built over time come together once again and generate new connections.
